Recent Project – High Maintenance Boutique – In-Store Video Marketing

In-store video marketing – High Maintenance Boutique (HM) based in Tampa, Fl is an upscale ladies fashion and accessories boutique. They recently asked us to cover their grand opening, and what an event it was! As part of their grand opening they hosted a fashion-show and fundraiser benefiting a local charity. They wanted us to film the event with particular emphasis on the fashion-show which featured clothing and accessories available in their boutique. The DVD we produced is designed to be played in-store (in a loop) with the goal of influencing the purchasing decisions of shoppers.

Studies show that up to 70% of shoppers make brand decisions while they shop. That’s why Wal-mart recently installed 100,00 video screens in stores all over the country. In-store advertising gives consumers product information while they shop – when they need it most. If your business has walk-in traffic, an in-store video can and will increase your sales.

The final DVD was approximately 45 min long. This is a small portion of it. Select the HD option for optimal quality. Enjoy.

A recent Doubleclick\Google study indicates that online video vastly outperforms other media ads such as images or simple animation. The study suggest that people who see a video are overwhelmingly more likely to make the purchase. According to the study, when presented with multiple brands people preferred the brand that utilized video.

A recent Pew Internet & American Life Project report says that the number of adults watching online video has doubled since 2006. You can read the report here. 62% of adult Internet users surveyed in April 2009 have watched a video on sites like YouTube (up from 33% in 2006). Only 46% of adult Internet users are active on social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace. Only 11% of internet users use sites like Twitter.

What does this mean? Video has the ability to draw viewers in and compel them to respond. Internet users want to see video on your site and when they find it are much more likely to make the purchase! High Definition – The decision to produce a High Def (HD) video or a Standard Def (SD) video is not as clear cut as one might think. We still produce some films in SD. One of the problems is storage media. DVD’s do not have the capacity to store an HD film of any significant length. Blu-Ray disc will address this issue but many businesses do not yet own Blu-Ray players. We expect this issue will be null and void in the near future.

For this project we produced a film that is less than 5 minutes in length. Storage media is not a problem due to the fact that this video is intended for internet distribution. We produced it at a resolution of 1280 X 720 (720P). 1080P (1920 x 1080) was an option but it would have increased streaming times for what we felt was a negligible benefit. Broadband is widespread but it still takes a few minutes to load an HD video. Take a couple of minutes and watch the video below. Select the HD option and full screen for optimal quality.

Book Trailer – The Wildrose Series By Ruth Carmichael Ellinger – Pt 2

The challenge with a book trailer is that unlike a movie trailer you have no visual images to work with. The challenge is to create a visual interpretation of the written word. For this book trailer we wanted to bring the primary characters to life. To accomplish this we relied on computer generated images (CGI). The first book in the series had a painting of the primary character on the cover.

We used this cover as the basis for our CGI character. This was the end result.

We’ll tell you more about this project in a later post.

Increasingly, one of the tools that Authors and Publishers are using to promote books is video.
